Georgia's 2014 Fishing Regulations Now Available

Anglers can find the new 2014 Georgia Sport Fishing Regulations Guide online and in print, announced the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division. 

“The 2014 guide provides anglers information on great places to fish and provides guidance on laws and regulations,” said John Biagi, fisheries management chief.  “We suggest that all anglers, new and experienced, take a look at the publication each year before casting a line.”

The 2014 Georgia Sport Fishing Regulations Guide provides helpful information, including color fish identification charts for both freshwater and saltwater fish, license purchasing information, contact information for Wildlife Resources Division fisheries management offices and DNR law enforcement offices, trout stream listings, public fishing area information, state record fish listings and complete fishing regulations for Georgia.

New information highlighted in this year’s guide includes:

  • Restriction Removed: The season restriction for fishing in marked areas around three springs in Lake Blackshear was removed.
  • Slot Length Limit Change-Jackson County: The current slot length limit for largemouth bass from Bear Creek Water Supply Reservoir was removed.  The statewide 12-inch minimum length limit will be implemented.
  • Slot Length Limit Change-Wayne County: A protective slot length limit for largemouth bass, 15-inch to 22-inch, on Lake Lindsay Grace is implemented.  In addition, only one bass may be greater than 22 inches.

2016 Application Period For Peregrine Falcon Trapping For Falconry Usage Is Underway

The 2016 application period for the trapping of a peregrine falcon to be used in falconry is underway, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has announced. The TWRA will award this permit to the winner of a draw to be held on Wednesday, Aug. 31. Hixson Man Charged With Sending Threatening Emails To General Sessions Court Judge

A 30-year-old Hixson man has been charged with making threats to kill General Sessions Court Judge Lila Statom after police said they found evidence to tie him to recent threats against the judge. Rescuers Carry Injured 15-Year-Old Boy Out Of Pocket Wilderness

First responders spent Sunday afternoon rescuing an injured 15-year-old boy at the Pocket Wilderness at the foot of Mowbray Mountain. At 1:20 p.m. , a 911 call was made reporting a teenager had injured his ankle from cliff jumping at the "Blue Hole " at the Pocket Wilderness.
