Teens Involved In Shooting First Told Police Made-Up Story

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

Teens involved in an incident in which a teen was shot in the head early Sunday afternoon when he and a friend were playing with a gun first told police a made-up story.

Police were first told that the boys were walking back from a store on Rossville Boulevard when a vehicle pulled up and a man got out on the passenger side.

They said the man shot one of the boys in the back of the head.

Police said the accounts were "inconsistent" and they eventually admitted that they were playing with a gun and one of them was shot.

It was reported to police that the juvenile was with a friend and the two were handling a loaded firearm.  The friend pulled the trigger of a small-caliber revolver and accidentally struck the victim in the back of the head.

The victim was brought to the hospital by his mother and was being treated for the injury that is believed to be non-life-threatening.

The incident happened at 4806 13th Ave.
