Sheriff Jim Hammond said family members and friends of inmates at the county jail should be able to visit with them online by summer.
He said installation of the system by Edge Access should start in April or May and take about 90 days.
The County Commission approved the contract on Wednesday.
A major bonus of the system will be the fact that jailers will no longer have to move groups of prisoners downstairs for person-to-person visits. Those type visits will still be available, but it is expected that most will opt for the new online visitation.
