Three people were shot in two separate incidents overnight, including a 13-year-old boy who was killed at his home. The victim was Deontrey Suthers, an 8th grader at East Lake Academy.
He was shot in the chest.
Family members said he was not the intended target of shots fired from outside the home.
Funeral arrangements for him are by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave.
The fatal shooting was just before midnight in the 1500 block of East 50th Street. Officers received the call of a shooting at approximately 11:33 p.m. Officers located the youngster inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was transported by HCEMS but was pronounced dead en route to the hospital.
At this time, there is no information that leads police to believe that this crime is gang related or that it is related to the shooting at 5206 Central Ave., it was stated.
The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
An earlier shooting in which two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries was around 9:40 p.m. at the Central Avenue address. Officers located two victims, Terri Marsh and Willie Marsh. Both victims stated they were inside their residence when shots were fired through their living room window. Terri Marsh sustained a single gunshot wound to her stomach and Willie Marsh sustained a single gunshot wound to his left leg. The victims were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

About 10 minutes after the Central Avenue shooting, police responded on a shots fired call near Charger Drive and E. 37th Street.
Deontrey Southers, 13, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at a local hospital.
