Last week, a TDOT geotechnical engineer from Nashville met with regional personnel to assess the ramp from Access Road / Lake Resort Drive onto SR-153 North that has been closed due to a pavement failure.
Officials said, "During the time the ramp has been closed, our Region 2 Operations crews tried a couple of times to repair and reopen it, but the roadway continued to exhibit movement even after the repairs were made. After a thorough assessment of the area, it was determined that we should keep the ramp closed and let an emergency contract for the repairs. We are in the process of taking the necessary steps to do just that."
Meanwhile, for the safety of the public, the entrance ramp from Access Road / Lake Resort Drive onto SR-153 North will continue to remain closed. Officials apologize for the inconvenience.
