Robin Lemley, 46, Killed In I-75 Crash Near Ooltewah Exit

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

Robin Lemley, 46, was killed in a crash on I-75 southbound near the Ooltewah exit on Wednesday morning.

The wreck happened around 6:15 a.m. Chattanooga Police received a call of a traffic crash at 1000 I-75 in the south bound lanes of travel.

Traffic investigators discovered that a tractor-trailer had broken down and attempted to pull to the shoulder. The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to perform an inspection of the tractor trailer and discovered that the drive shaft had failed, which caused the tractor-trailer to break down. The driver of the tractor trailer was unable to pull completely off of the roadway and the trailer was blocking part of the right lane. The driver of the tractor-trailer did place warning triangles behind the truck.

Traffic investigators said Ms. Lemley was driving a Mazda mini-van traveling south in the right lane when her vehicle struck the rear end of the tractor trailer. She was killed on impact.

After the wreck, the right two lanes of southbound traffic were blocked for several hours.
