2nd Presbyterian Women's Retreat Will Be Saturday

The annual Women's Spiritual Retreat at Second Presbyterian Church, 700 Pine St., will be Saturday, from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., with lunch at 1 p.m. 

This retreat sponsored by the Presbyterian  Women brings the women of the congregation together to have fellowship time and share their faith journey.The leader for the retreat will be Betsy Kammerdiener, chaplain at Memorial Hospital. Her focus will be "Little Known Characters of the Bible." The cost of the retreat, including lunch, will be $10. Make your reservations by calling the church office or contacting Suzanne Rushworth at 267-5451.

Continuing a sermon message series on Establishing Priorities for the New Year, Dr. Perry McCallan will speak on Sunday, at 11 a.m., on "Anything But, Lukewarm" with text from Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and Revelation 3:14-22. 

Wedesdays for Wonderful Wednesday, continuing a study of Essential Truths of the Christian Faith.

16-Year-Old Shot Near Emma Wheeler Homes

A 16-year-old was shot near Emma Wheeler Homes on Sunday night. At approximately 7:40 p.m., Chattanooga Police received a call of a person shot from a local hospital. Officers spoke to the victim, a 16-year-old black male, who was transported to a local hospital in a personal vehicle. The victim’s injury is minor and non-life threatening. Helen Burns Sharp Asks Recovery Of Legal Fees In Successful Black Creek TIF Lawsuit

Helen Burns Sharp, citizen activist who sued to try to stop a $9 million Black Creek Tax Increment Financing (TIF) and won, is seeking to have her legal expenses paid by the city and the developers.
