Southern Spirit Is February Exhibit At River Gallery

Friday, January 24, 2014

The River Gallery February exhibit, Southern Spirit, features artists who have southern ties that concentrate on the ephemeral essence of nature and memory.

There will be an opening reception with the artists on Friday, feb. 7, from 6:30-8 p.m.  The snow date is Saturday, Feb. 8, from 2-4 p.m.

Review for the artists:

James Conner of Alabama captures an instance in time that evokes a sense of recollection or a returning to one's roots.  With his sustainable baskets, Matt Tommey of North Carolina, nterlaces the complementary elements of the organic with the sculptural.  Barbara Odil, of Georgia, has figurative work akin to a totem used by indigenous people to conjure respect for the natural world, walking through a wood and discovering something from the past.

Events are free and open to the public.

Bobby Stone, Is It Really A Win? - And Response

It brought a smile to my face this morning when I saw where the case was thrown out of court against Mr. Stone and the domestic violence charge.  I have supported his cause from the beginning, but I do feel heartbreak because his personal life had to be tossed out there for all of us to see.   I truly hope and pray things turn around for him and his wife, while I feel ...
