Close to a hundred people joined the Tennessee Valley Republican Women’s group on Saturday at the Hamilton County GOP’s Headquarters for a “standing room only” pancake and french-toast breakfast with all the trimmings prepared by a team of  elected official “cooks” with the help of TVRW members.

About 30 candidates for local positions introduced themselves and said a few words about their campaign startups.  This fundraising event was also attended by a host of other elected officials, several of whom are seeking office for different positions than those that they currently hold.

The Tennessee Valley Republican Women’s group meets monthly on the third Tuesday evening of each month (except June, July and December) at 6 p.

m.  Any women interested in learning about  or supporting Republican principles, and in hearing candidates speak in the upcoming forums are welcomed to visit the club at the GOP Headquarters, 1428 Chestnut St., Suite E.  More information may be obtained at the Tennessee Valley Republican Women facebook page, at the Hamilton County GOP website, hcgop.com, or by contacting Pamper Garner Crangle, club president, at cranglepg@epbfi.com.

I’ll admit I paid little more than scant attention to the Monday funeral of Michael Brown, the 18-year-old who was shot and killed by police bullets in Ferguson, Mo., after he allegedly was involved in strong-armed robbery. There are too many tawdry details and, in my way of thinking, there is nothing under God’s sun, absolutely nothing, that gives others the right to riot, burn ... (click for more)
