A home in Ooltewah was destroyed by fire Monday night.
At 11:30 p.m., the homeowner, Roger Ufford, called 911 and reported a fire at his residence, 3207 Banks Road.
The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded and reported fire showing through the roof and attic area plus a vehicle on fire under a carport. Firefighters went to a defensive attack to get the fire under control. Unfortunately, the house was too far involved to save the house.
The Tri-Community VFD Deputy Chief, Danny Hague, reported damages are a loss and valued at $75,000.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
The homeowner, Mr. Ufford was transported to Parkridge Hospital by Hamilton County EMS for smoke inhalation.
American Red Cross personnel responded to assist the Ufford family.
