Chattanooga, East Ridge Have Changes In Service Schedules Due To Weather

  • Wednesday, January 29, 2014

Due to inclement weather and unsafe road conditions, the city of Chattanooga's garbage and recycle collection services may be delayed in many areas.  Customers are asked to leave containers on the curbside until collection crews are able to safely service each street.  Crews from the Department of Public Works have worked around the clock and continue to treat roads to ensure safe travel. It is advised to avoid unnecessary travel today as some streets may be icy.

Customers who have questions about their service schedule or road conditions may contact 311.

Also, East Ridge staff announced the following closures and changes to service schedules:

Sanitation trucks will not run regular routes this week. Everyone is asked to have both trash and recycling cans to the curb for pickup. When road conditions improve enough that equipment can operate safely, trash and recycling will be collected. This may take up until late in the afternoons and possibly this Saturday to complete. Staff is asking for cooperation and patience during this time. Brush, bulk and leaf pickup will resume as normal once sanitation routes are completed.

The City Library will be closed today. All other city buildings, including the Community Center, Camp Jordan Park and Arena will close today at 5 p.m. All activities in these facilities are cancelled or postponed. Indoor soccer games for this evening (Jan 29) have been postponed.
