The National Weather Service issued this notice for the Chattanooga area: SUNSHINE WAS A WELCOMED CHANGE FOR TODAY AND HELPED TO IMPROVE TRAVEL ACROSS THE REGION. HOWEVER...HIGH TEMPERATURES STRUGGLED TO WARM TO THE TEENS AND 20S AT MOST LOCATIONS...AND STAYED BELOW FREEZING JUST ABOUT EVERYWHERE. CLEAR SKIES...LIGHT WINDS AND SNOW COVERED GROUND WILL ALLOW TEMPERATURES TO DROP AT LEAST INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS AGAIN OVERNIGHT. THUS...RE-FREEZING OF MELTED ICE AND SNOW WILL OCCUR AND CAUSE ROADS TO BECOME VERY HAZARDOUS. SECONDARY AND BACK ROADS WERE LESS TRAVELED AND WILL BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AGAIN. WIND CHILLS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO BE A SIGNIFICANT FACTOR...AS SURFACE WINDS SHOULD BE GENERALLY LIGHT AND VARIABLE. HOWEVER REMEMBER TO DRESS WARMLY IN LAYERS IF VENTURING OUTDOORS THIS EVENING OR OVERNIGHT. MAKE SURE ALL EXPOSED SKIN IS COVERED TO PREVENT FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA. MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO EXERCISE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING...SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH THEIR DESTINATION! DO NOT TRAVEL UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.
