1-2 Inches Of Snow Likely In Valleys In Chattanooga And More On Mountains On Sunday; Area To Have Over 60 Hours Of Below Freezing Temperatures

Snow is likely for the Chattanooga area on Sunday with the valleys getting 1-2 inches and more in the higher elevations.

Then there will be a deep freeze with temperatures dropping as low as seven degrees on Monday. The area is expected to have over 60 hours of below-freezing temperatures.

The snow arrived earlier on area mountains with one section of Signal Mountain reporting two inches on Thursday night.

• Snow should begin Sunday evening, ending Monday
• Monday night/Tuesday morning the low may reach 7 degrees, which will be the coldest since January 2003
• Monday & Tuesday wind chills are predicted to be between -5 to -15 degrees
• Consideration to be given for preparation of possible hazardous travel and power outages throughout this event
• Remember to use caution with all heat sources and prepare for the extreme cold, including exposed pipes and anti- freeze in vehicle radiators

  • Tonight Clear, with a low around 20. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph after midnight.
  • Saturday Sunny, with a high near 45. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Saturday Night Increasing clouds, with a low around 32. South wind around 5 mph.
  • Sunday Showers likely, mainly after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 53. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
  • Sunday Night Rain showers before 9pm, then snow showers. Low around 16. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
  • Monday A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy and cold, with a high near 20. Blustery.
  • Monday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 5. Blustery.
  • Tuesday Sunny, with a high near 25.
  • Tuesday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 14.



2 Brothers Arrested For Armed Robbery At Dollar Store

Two brothers have been arrested for the armed robbery of the Dollar Store on 23rd Street that took place on July 3.  According to police, Dominique and Trevor Casteel came into the store with pistols, demanding money.
