County Marriage Numbers Down In 2013 From Prior 2 Years

Friday, January 03, 2014

County Clerk Bill Knowles stated today that Hamilton County issued 2,408 marriage licenses in 2013.

He said, “This number is down when compared to the total issued in the previous two years. In 2012 the clerk’s office received 2,685 applications, while in 2011 the clerk’s office licensed 2,624 couples for marriage.

“Tennessee changed the marriage license law in 2004 requiring a higher issuance fee for all couples not receiving pre-martial counseling prior to making application. Without the Certification of Completion the license  cost $102.50. When the state counseling affidavit is presented the cost is $40.”

Total number of licenses issued in previous years are:

Roy Exum: Quick! Arm Our Guards

When I learned last Wednesday that Chattanooga’s leading hospital, in a ridiculous attempt to be more “family friendly,” planned to disarm its security guards. I was aghast but decided to wait for the proper “incident” to illustrate how stupid members of our “free thought society” can sometimes be. It took exactly one week. A bit after midnight on Thursday morning a gunman appeared ... (click for more)
