Cleveland Police Chief Wes Snyder said in a letter Friday that he was seeking to undo his decision to retire after he was caught making visits to a unit at a storage facility with the female director of Main Street Cleveland.
He said his retirement decision "...was made hastily and under significant and emotional duress."
However, Cleveland City Manager Janice Casteel declined to go along with the extension.
Ms. Casteel said, "After careful consideration of your request to rescind your retirement from the City of Cleveland effective January 5, 2014 I believe it is not in the city's best interest to accept your letter of rescission. Therefore, you retirement will be effective Sunday January 5th as you requested and we agreed."
