In Support Of Chris Anderson - And Response

Thursday, January 30, 2014
Chris Anderson is a bright young man with a lot of good ideas that will help promote his district and the city of Chattanooga.  Chris has the ability and the vision to promote new ideas that can refresh the creativity of the council.  Not every ordinance Chris proposes will be a winner with every person within the city and we as citizens must step up and speak out to make our feeling known but to recall someone because of their sexual orientation is wrong.  As Christians we believe that sex is reserved for marriage only.  How many of you that have voted on the poll to recall Chris have had extra or premarital affairs.  Is that any better than a same-sex relationship?

We would like to see Chris judged on his abilities as a council person.  He is the same council person that saved many small businesses in Chattanooga when he made a proposal to amend the sprinkler ordinance.  As far as condemning Chris for his lifestyle, we may be better off to take a serious look at our own lifestyles first.

If I am not mistaken, Mr. Anderson is not the only council member to approve the benefits. I'm pretty certain that the majority voted in favor and it passed.

Why isn't the Tea Party trying to drum up enough signatures to recall all the elected officials that voted in favor? In fact, why don't we just recall or petition everything?

I live in District 7 and voted for Mr. Anderson, and he has responded quickly to any concerns of my neighborhood. We are a diverse group that was not being represented in the previous administration when the gang violence was swept under the rug. Mr. Anderson acknowledges and responds to everyone's concerns.

Laugh all you want at the chickens, but there were plenty of people in the district that were flooding his inbox wanting them in their back yards. He did his job and brought it to the council.

Unless you live in my district, you have no dog in the hunt. If you want to gripe, recall your own council person that probably voted in favor of the benefits. I have to wonder if the outside people "helping" are actually city residents. The main "consultant" lives in Hixson and probably doesn't even pay city taxes.

Really? Who cares if Chris Anderson is gay or not? All of this needless war of words is ridiculous, and only continues to embarrass the city of Chattanooga and Hamilton County residents.

For Mr. & Mrs. Turner to advocate that the citizenry of Chris' district are asking for a recall is absurd and uninformed. The only question remains: is Chris Anderson representing the needs and wishes of his constituency? If so, leave him alone. If not, recall him.

I do agree, however, with one point the Turners made -- hold them accountable.  If people would get out from behind their computer screens and make an appearance at the City Council meetings, that might make a difference. If people who write senseless gibberish about issues they feel strongly about would take action in some way - through their local Democratic/Republican parties, run for office, ask to volunteer with one or more city/county leaders - they might become more enlightened in the way the city/county is ran.  By the way, the citizenry of each city and/or county district has the right to ask for a recall. If you don't like the system, change it.

I don't ask that anyone do anything more than what I have been willing to do. I announced my candidacy for County District 8 Commissioner race, but had to reverse that decision due to sudden and very pressing personal, familial and professional matters.

In other words.....Do something or shut up.

Shocked By Chief Robert Simpson's Replacement

After reading the article in today's TFP paper about the replacement of Chief Robert Simpson, I was shocked.  I  have had the privilege of knowing Chief Simpson for 25 years.  He is honest and a hard worker.  Reading the list of improvements made for the police department and the city's benefits from his hard work, I wonder what does the city want? We always ... (click for more)
