Sounds Of Unity Choir Holds Black History Concert Feb. 22

Sounds of Unity Choir, under the Direction of Minister Marcellus Barnes, will host its annual 2014 Black History Concert on February 22 at Bayside Baptist Church, 6100 Hwy 58. Doors open at p.m. and the concert begins at 6 p.m. Special Guests Artists will be featured, including Gospel artist sensation Benita Washington and national Gospel recording artist Kevin Davidson. Easter Egg Hunt Sunday At New Hope Presbyterian

An Easter sunrise service will begin at 7 a.m. on Sunday, at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 701 Shallowford Road. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. At the 10:45 a.m. worship service, there will be a cantata and the Rev. Keith Jones will speak on "Resurrection," with text from Matthew 28:1-10. Easter Egg Hunt Offered On Sunday At East Brainerd Baptist

The choir at East Brainerd Baptist Church, 1047 Graysville Road, will present "The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power," at the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday. Haslam Signs Bill Ending Forced Annexation And Giving Tennesseans Right To Vote

Governor Bill Haslam signed HB 2371/SB2464 on Wednesday. The law ends forced annexations and gives Tennesseans the right to vote. The law now requires cities to annex by consent of the landowner or through referendum approved by a majority of the landowners to be annexed. One of the men labeled as the "worst of the worst" in a Chattanooga roundup was sentenced Tuesday to 10 months and three years supervised release after he pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine.
