Emissions Testing Centers Closed For Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Monday, January 06, 2014

All emissions testing centers in Hamilton County (Chattanooga) will close on Monday, Jan. 20 in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. All stations will resume testing on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at their regular scheduled hours.

“Planning ahead helps keep waiting to a minimum,” said Prentiss Taylor, program manager for the Tennessee vehicle inspection program administered by Envirotest Systems.

“It’s a good idea to take vehicles mid-week, when testing volume is usually lighter, and to avoid testing in the final days of the month.”

Envirotest, the world’s leading provider of vehicle emissions testing and inspection, has a contract with the State of Tennessee to test vehicles for the improvement of air quality in Hamilton County, in addition to four Middle Tennessee counties, as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to meet the Clean Air Act.

“Vehicle emissions testing has proven effective in helping Tennessee improve its air quality,” Taylor said.

Normal hours of operation and testing center locations for Hamilton County are:

·        5206 Austin Road in Hixson, and 720 Eastgate Loop in Chattanooga are open Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and for both locations, Saturday 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday.

·        1620 Riverfront Parkway and 7460 Bonnyshire Drive in Chattanooga are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
