Erlanger Offers Classes And Events For Jan. 13-18

The Erlanger schedule of classes and events for January 13-18 includes family planning classes, diabetes education and men’s health seminar.  Registration is required.  For more information on our classes and events, call Erlanger HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465), seven days a week from 8 a.m. until midnight.  HealthLink Plus is a free membership program open to adults 18 and older.  

Monday, January 13

Bariatric Support Group
5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Erlanger Chattanooga Lifestyle Center
Bariatric Support Group meetings are for individuals scheduled to have Bariatric surgery or who have already had weight loss surgery.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) for more information. 

Tuesday, January 14

Childbirth Education
5:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
This childbirth education class/series is designed for expectant parents and taught by experienced OB nurses.  These classes include stages of labor, relaxation and labor support techniques, hospital procedures, pain management options, after birth and home care for moms and in-hospital care for newborns.  There will also be time for questions and answers.  Registration fee is $75.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register.  

Thursday, January 16

Diabetes Education Class
1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Erlanger Chattanooga Lifestyle Center
This class will explore ways to manage diabetes.  Call 778-9400 for more information on physician referral and insurance reimbursement.  

Straight Talk about Men’s Health
Registration 6 p.m. 
Presentation 6:30 p.m.

As many as 30 million men in the U.S. experience incontinence and/or erectile dysfunction. Attend this free seminar and meet the newest member of Erlanger’s Academic Urologist practice, Dr. Anand Shridharani, and learn about advancements in the treatment of these conditions—including minimally-invasive solutions—to regain intimacy and restore control.  The seminar is free and pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Saturday, January 18

Boot Camp for Dads
9 a.m.-noon
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
This session is for first time dads who want to learn more about the upcoming new addition in their family.  Topics include diapering, feeding, why babies cry and how to handle it, how you can help the new mom, learn about postpartum depression and general hands-on infant care.  A new “veteran” dad is invited (along with his new baby) to the class for question and answer time.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register. 

Breastfeeding
9 a.m.-noon
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
This class is designed to help participants make an informed choice about breastfeeding.  Learn breastfeeding basics, what to expect the first few weeks and special tips for success.  Concerns about returning to work/school will also be discussed.  This course is coordinated by a board-certified lactation consultant.  Registration fee is $30.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register.



CHI Memorial Convenient Care - LaFayette Now Open

CHI Memorial Convenient Care – LaFayette is now open and will host an open house event for the community on  Wednesday, from 1 – 5 p.m.   Activities will include mini health assessments, including blood pressure, height, weight, BMI (body mass index) and waist circumference, diabetes risk self-assessment, bone density screening, breast health education and light refreshments. ... Deborah Cox Of Graysville Dies After Wreck On Jones Gap Road

One person who was in critical condition after a wreck on Jones Gap Road has died. The victim was identified as Deborah Cox, of Graysville, Tn.  Hamilton County Sheriff's deputies, along with HCEMS and fire personnel, worked the accident near the 13,300 block of Jones Gap Road.
