Water Main Break Forces Closure Of Knoxville Supreme Court Building

The Knoxville offices of the Tennessee Supreme and Appellate courts and clerk will be closed until Monday, Jan. 13 because of a water main break outside the court building on Main Street.

The building requires a water supply to heat the space and repairs are expected to take several days. Because of this, the Supreme Court has ordered the Knoxville Appellate Court Clerks Office closed until Monday, Jan.

13. The deadline for any documents due Thursday, Jan. 9 or Friday, Jan. 10 will be extended until Monday, Jan. 13.

City Seeking Grant To Improve Signals At 32 Intersections

The city is seeking a $2 million federal grant to go along with $500,000 in city funds for a project to improve signals at 32 intersections. There would also be bike and pedestrian improvements. The routes include Brainerd Road, Lee Highway, Shallowford Road, Gunbarrel Road and Hamilton Place Boulevard. The application is for a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Grant. (click for more)
