Marie Leitner Swallows, 70, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, October
11, 2014.
Born in Herndon, Ks., on April 16, 1944, to parents, Louie and
Stella Leitner, Arlene called Chattanooga home for the last 47 years. Arlene spent the last several years funding her adventures by working part
time at Franklin Wealth Management as its director of First Impressions and
enjoyed a long and successful career at firms like Raymond James and JC
Bradford. Arlene's true passions were her family and hiking. She traveled regularly
for both. She was known as Grammie to 3-year-old Josie and adored showing
her off. As a member of the Chattanooga Hiking Club, she recently completed
several hikes in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park that were on her
bucket list. She had so much more she wanted to experience with Josie, her
family and her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Dennis and Marvin, sisters
Mardell and Diane.
Survivors include her son, Christopher (Gina), granddaughter, Josephine;
siblings, Larry (Donna) Leitner, Carol Leitner, Ron (Patti) Leitner, Joyce
(Doug) Spittler, Linda (Doug) Carey and a large extended family.
A celebration of her life, and to share memories, and a funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, at St. Jude Catholic Church.
