Brad Coffey of Maryville, Tn., driving the (#88) "Airport Auto Sales, Goddard Performance, Twisted Roots" sponsored Warrior/Bill Bunch powered Crate Late Model racer, battled it out in Sweetwater at I-75 Raceway despite Mother Nature getting involved in Saturday night's racing program.
Coffey held control of the feature despite numerous cautions. Fellow Maryville racer, Jason Welshan, overtook second late in the race from Spring City's Barry Goodman and powered up to Coffey on the final lap. Racing side by side to the checkers Coffey narrowly escaped with the win over Welshan.
Behind Goodman was Cleveland's Jimmy Elliott and Tazewell's Jordan Horton.
In the Mod Lite class Micah Collins (#0) of Rock Island, Tn., took the win over John Pitts and David Smith.
In the B-Hobby division Nathan Adams (#A930) of Crossville won over Michale Boyd and Wesley Lester. The rest of the racing program Saturday night was rained out and will be made up.
