  • Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Six of the 11 candidates for the US Senate seat currently held by incumbent Lamar Alexander announced they will debate the issues on Thursday, Oct. 23 at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Nashville right across the street from the state capitol.

The two hour debate will begin at 1:30 p.m. end at 3:30 p.m.

The six candidates are: Tom Emerson, a Tea Party member; Edmund Gauthier, constitutional independent and anti-party (of any shape, form or name); Joshua James, the endorsed Libertarian Party candidate; Danny Page, Constitutional Conservative; Martin Pleasant, the Green Party candidate and Joe Wilmouth, the Constitutional Party candidate.

“It’s unprecedented in Tennessee political history,” James S. Buente, spokesperson for the group said.  “The six candidates agreed to debate and the time, day and place in one meeting.”

“We have also sent certified letters to Lamar Alexander and Gordon Ball inviting them to participate in the debate as well”,  Mr, Buente added.

“This election needs to be about the critical issues facing Tennesseans and the nation; not about political mudslinging that has already started in the media”, Mr. Buente said.
