Dalton State Athletics announced Wednesday that Coca-Cola is a new, major corporate partner.
Dalton State Athletic Director Derek Waugh said the Tennessee Valley Division of Coca-Cola United (formerly Chattanooga Coca-Cola) is funding the athletic department with a combination of scholarship aid, team equipment and Coca-Cola beverages to include Dasani and Powerade.
The support exceeds $10,000 per year to a Dalton State Athletic Department that is enjoying quite a bit of success in its first year of conference competition.
Coca-Cola United is one of the three largest bottlers of Coke in the United States and the Tennessee Valley Division recently acquired Whitfield County as a new territory. It was founded in 1902 and was one of the earliest bottlers of Coca-Cola. Tyler Maynor, a spokesperson for Coca-Cola said, “We are very pleased to support the outstanding Athletic Department at Dalton State. They are certainly a program on the rise and well respected in their community. We think it is a great partnership as we increase our presence in Northwest Georgia.”
“We continue to be blessed with amazing community and corporate support,” said Mr. Waugh.“Growing up in Atlanta, all I ever knew was Coke, and my relationship with the leadership team in Chattanooga goes way back to college when our Furman teams used to come to UTC and visit Alex Taylor and Gary Davis. They are an amazing group and all about giving back to the community. I really am glad that they are now in Dalton and Tyler has become a great friend. We look forward to a long partnership and representing them in a very positive way.”
Coca-Cola joins FSG Bank as recent major corporations that have joined in promoting the Dalton State brand. “We are blessed, and extremely thankful for the support that these corporations are providing to us,” said Mr. Waugh.
