Cammie Whitehead
Cammie Whitehead, 86, died on October 15, 2014 at a local health care facility.
After graduating from high school she earned her degree in Cosmetology. She then became the owner of her own beauty shop – Cammie’s Beauty Shop.
Ms. Cammie served as church clerk at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church; president of Senior Usher Board and youth director. She enjoyed writing poetry, baking and doing hair and makeup. She also did Beauty consultant for adult women.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mantel Davis, PH.D; sisters, Rosa Calloway, Lurenia Cox, Inell Allen, Elnora Hurst, Ommie Wilkerson, Lula Mae Cope; brothers, Bud Cooper, Reverend Joe Milsap and W. D. Milsap.
Survivors include her husband, Cornelius Whitehead, Chattanooga; brothers, Walter Milsap, Dupree Milsap, Los Angeles; nephews, Leon Cope, Jimmie Ray Cope and Joe Benny Milsap, Chattanooga; nieces, Blondine Fleming, Carolyn Payne of Atlanta; Petrenea Sanders, Betty Jean Milsap, Irene Milsap, Rita Faye Wilena Cope, Chattanooga.
Special thanks to staff of Health Center at Standifer Place for their special care; Thankful Baptist Church for care and support; Elder Lockhart and wife for extra care and kindness; family members and friends for support and acts of kindness.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. at Thankful Baptist Church, 980 Orchard Knob Avenue, Chattanooga, with Elder Oscar L. Lockhart, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens – East, on Monday, Octo. 20, at 10 a.m.
The body will lie in state on Saturday, Oct. 18, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
