Apologizing For The Negative Direction Of The East Ridge Mayoral Race - And Response

  • Friday, October 17, 2014
To all my supporters and to all citizens of East Ridge, I apologize for the negative direction that this campaign had taken.  Many have heard reports of the Council Meeting last night. They are reported on East Ridge News Online. http://www.eastridgenewsonline.com/mayoral-candidates-spar-at-council-meeting-cms-417
Were my actions “mayoral”?  Probably not.  I do not apologize for standing up for myself and ERNW.
I guess this proves I am not a politician, I am human.  I have values, I have pride and when my integrity is questioned,  I do get upset and will stand an defend myself and others that are being unjustly attacked.
Winning this election is important.  However, the bigger picture is our community, not politics.  When an elected official wants to bully and try to silence citizens because they don’t like him or say unkind things about him, I cannot and will not sit quietly on the side.  Should I have said anything?  I guess that is for each of you to decide.  I hope you can understand that I believe citizens’ right to have an opinion and voice it is bigger that an election.
If this incident has caused me to lose your vote, I am sorry, but I will understand and have no hard feelings.
For those of you that remain behind me, thank you.  I promise I will always stand and stand strong for your rights and mine.  I might not always do it in the “politically correct way”, but I am not a politician!   I am you, the only difference is that have stepped forward to offer my service to each of you.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Mrs. Pope,

Seems like all the negativity is based out of your camp. Everyone else in the race is attempting to avoid the negativity , and you seem to be drawing negative attention to yourself. I personally am not a member of some of the groups you take part of , but they seem to be drawing quite a bit of negative attention.

I was in attendence at the East Ridge Council meeting and was surprised at Mrs. Lowery's attempt to discredit a Council member by not quite telling the whole story. It seemed you and Mrs.Lowery were caught off guard by Mr.Bethunes preparedness , when he picked up where Mrs.Lowery failed to tell the whole story.

I had not totally made a decision on who to vote for as of last evening , but my opinion quickly changed as your true colors were displayed. The city seems to be moving forward with growth and quite frankly atfer your display last evening my opinion is you're incapable of controlling your temper. I certainly hope the latest negativity does not deter potential business from looking into East Ridge.
