Bonita Durrell

Bonita Maxine Durrell, of Flintstone, Georgia, died quietly at home on Thursday, October 17, 2014 at her residence.  She was with family until the end, when she was taken to heaven to be with the Lord.

Bonita (Bonnie) was born on Nov. 22, 1934, in Minnesota and lived many years in Kansas City, Mo., before marrying Norris Lew Durrell in 1938. They made their home for many years in Glen Burnie, Md., when Norris was stationed at the United States Naval Academy. There, she was active in many community and church organizations over the years, including running the church nursery at Glen Burnie Evangelical Presbyterian Church.  She was very active in her children’s school activities as well.  For years, she cared for her mother, Myrtle who lived with them as well.  She was known as an incredibly loving and generous person.  Her family was her life.  She will be deeply missed by all those privileged to have known her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Donna Weaver.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Norris Durrell, also of Flintstone; and three children, Pamela Kay Whittaker and her husband Jason of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia; Kimberly Joyce Redpath and her husband Scott of Flintstone; and Kevin Lew Durrell and his wife Stacey of Sanford, N.C. She was also blessed with four grandchildren, Hannah Durrell, Ian Redpath, Bryan Redpath and McKenzie Redpath.
