Magnus Hunzier
Magnus Theodore Hunziker, 90, of Rossville, Georgia, and formerly of Deer Creek, Illinois, died on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at his home, in the presence of his family.
He was born April 3, 1924, to Amos and Lena (Hartman) Hunziker. He served during World War II in the Navy as a gunner mate in the Pacific. Mag was a well-known carpenter who built many houses in the area. His life was characterized by his simple faith and sharing the Gospel message. He faithfully served for 46 years at New Castle Bible Church in Mackinaw, Ill., where services will be held.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Verla Francouer and Hannah Burgess.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ruth (Heinold) Hunziker; three daughters, Susan (Bob) Bingamon, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Lori (Stephen) Bower of Rossville, Julie (Paul) Rhudy of Rossville; three sons, Jim (Karen) Hunziker of LaFayette, Steve (Patty) Hunziker of Chattanooga, and Gary (Pam) Hunziker of Chickamauga; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren (the 29th born on the same day he died); and three sisters, Orva Jean (Harry) Mehl, Sadie Thompson, and Lydia (Glen) Williamson.
