James D. "Don" Gibson, 75 of Soddy Daisy, died on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at his residence with his loving family at his side. 

He was a member of Middle Valley Church of God, retired from Dupont, and was an avid bowler who loved farming, Tennessee athletics, and racing. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Mary Gibson and his father in law, William Stewart.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Judy Gibson; son, Jeff (Teresa) Gibson; daughters, Cheryl (Butch) Jett, Kim (Randall) McCord; grandchildren, Marty, Aaron, and Daniel Perry, Blake and Paige Gibson, Kyle Jett, and Kaci Campbell; great-grandchildren, William Perry, Ely Perry, Logan and Jett Campbell, and Lashawna Johnson; brother, Ronnie (Glenda) Gibson; sisters, Jewel Melton, Jimmie Lou (Carl) Koeninger, Shirley (Paul) Swanson, Christine Trimm, and Betty Gibson; mother in law, Joyce Stewart; brothers in law, Jerry (Frances) Stewart, Larry (Tammy) Stewart; sisters in law, Becky (Eddie) Flowers, Sandy (Sammy) Ramsey; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the funeral home with Reverend Mitch McClure officiating. Interment will follow in East Soddy Community Cemetery with his son and grandsons serving as pallbearers. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Middle Valley Church of God, 1703 Thrasher Pike, Hixson, Tn. 37343.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, at the funeral home.
