Many special events will be taking place in Chattanooga during October and some of them will include parties that serve beer. Representatives from those events came to the meeting of the Chattanooga Beer Board Thursday morning to apply for beer permits.

River Rocks, a showcase for outdoor adventure sports, will span the entire month of October, with events every weekend. On Oct. 9 Get Built Fit Gym will host an opening party from 6-9 p.m. at 301 Main St. Victoria Love Events is organizing this happy hour where 50-60 people are expected. Chattanooga Brewing has donated Octoberfest Beer that will be featured that night.

Another event built around River Rocks will be the Finale on Oct. 25. This will be a closing celebration for the month-long happening and will be held at Coolidge Park from 4-9 p.m. Organizers are expecting 1,500 people and have arranged for a large-scale security plan to handle the crowd. Beer will be sold and there will be three live bands on the stage.

A new fun event will take place Oct. 18 called the Urban Campout. It will be held at Renaissance Park and will include an open-to-the public gathering from 5-10:30 p.m. A local company that manufactures specialty tents will hold the second phase of the campout. For $100, a reservation can be made to spend the night along the river in one of the unique tents that are suspended from trees. A ticket for a party earlier in the evening is $50 and will include a catered meal with two drinks around a campfire, a live bluegrass concert, a short outdoor film and, if weather permits, a tethered ride in a hot air balloon.

Another outdoor event will begin and end at Renaissance Park on Oct. 25. Wild Trails, Chattanooga’s non-profit trail protection organization, will host a 10K and 30K trail run on open streets throughout the city. The off-road running race will go along open streets, alleys, and through places such as the baseball stadium and zoo. As participants finish, a party will be going on at the park where beer will be available. Volunteers will be stationed at all exits to prevent anyone from leaving the area with alcohol.

The Tennessee Pride Festival, which celebrates diversity surrounding the LGBT community in Chattanooga and the neighboring areas, will be held at Ross’s Landing on Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m.  Things to do will include a kid’s zone and entertainment such as singers, songwriters and comedians. There will also be a fashion show and food and drink sales including beer.

The two-day Rewind Music Festival will be at Engel Stadium on Friday and Saturday.  On Friday night from 7-10 p.m. promoter Wells Entertainment Group will present a night of comedy. From 4-11 p.m. Saturday the show will consist of music from the 1980s and 1990s. These concerts are expected to have an audience of 3,500-4,000 so a plan has been put in place to control beer sales. People will be required to show an ID at the gate and professional bartenders will have the ability to discontinue sales if judged necessary. Several cab companies have been put on notice to be available to transport anyone deemed unfit to drive.

In addition to special events, three places of business were given beer licenses. Eileen Mason was approved for a permit for the second location of Chattanooga Coffee Company at 215 Broad St. In order to expand the offerings at the new location near the Tennessee Aquarium, the business will have a wine and beer bar in addition to the coffee bar.

Dosa Hut, a new Indian restaurant, will be opening at 6940 Lee Hwy. It will be allowed to serve beer along with the food with the issuance of a beer license. This restaurant has a capacity of 110 customers. It will be open until 9 p.m. on weekdays and until 9:30 p.m. on weekends.

Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant at 3029 Rossville Blvd. was required to apply and was approved for a beer permit because of an ownership change. The occupancy for this restaurant is 49. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served. It will be open until 10 p.m.
