Police said a woman assaulted her husband with a closed fist and a flashlight after dropping their infant son two feet to a lawn.

Jasmine Smith, 24, of 8164 Holly Crest Dr., is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated child abuse and disorderly conduct.

In the incident Sept. 22, Eric Gaines said they argued, then she dropped the child and went on the attack. He said after she hit him in the head with her fist, she got a flashlight from her car and battered him in the face with that multiple times.

He said she then left in her car. She later returned to get the baby and "dropped him in the car seat aggressively" as she left.

An officer noticed swelling and bruising on and around the left eye and forehead of Mr. Gaines.

Broken pieces of a flashlight were in the yard.

A neighbor witnessed the incident, police said.
