Man Pleads Guilty Under Diversion Statute In Hidden Camera In Restrooms Case

  • Tuesday, October 21, 2014

A 21-year-old man charged in a case in which a hidden camera shaped like an ink pen was apparently placed in several local restrooms pleaded guilty under the obstruction statute on Tuesday.

Justin Jamar Wilson appeared before General Sessions Court Judge Lila Statom.

The charge of observation without consent can be expunged if he gets in no further trouble for a year.

Chattanooga Police in July received from a citizen a camera that apparently had been placed by someone in the men’s restroom at the Chattanooga Billiards Club downtown.

The footage from the camera was reviewed by Investigators with the homicide unit and a potential suspect was revealed.  Investigators were able to identify one of the locations seen on the camera and from that located the suspect's place of employment.

With the assistance of the management of a local Kangaroo station, investigators were able to identify the suspect as Justin Wilson.

Police said the device contained images of different males using the men's restroom. One showed a minor at a urinal.

Under terms of the agreement, Wilson is banned from Kangaroo stores and the Chattanooga Billiards Club.
