Police have charged 23-year-old Carlisha Denise Anderson with the attempted murder of a co-worker.

Ms. Anderson, whose residence is at East Lake Courts, is also charged with aggravated assault in the stabbing of 61-year-old Michael Davis. Both work at the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Police responded on Sunday to the Davis residence at 1121 N. Chamberlain Ave. and found Mr. Davis suffering from a deep gash to his neck that came close to his jugular vein. He was transported by ambulance to Erlanger Hospital.

Police said there was a large amount of blood at the scene, but no weapon was found.

Mr. Davis told police that he and Ms. Anderson had a sexual relationship since before March and he had been paying her rent and other bills. He said she came to his house and asked for more money than before. He said he told her he would continue to pay her rent, but nothing else.

He said he was then stabbed in the neck. The victim said he did not know what object was used in the stabbing.

Mr. Davis said he first resisted going to the hospital, but realized his serious injury and called 911.

Police located Ms. Anderson at East Lake Courts. She said she had been home all day and had never left. She first said she had not been to the Davis home, then said she went once.

He said she had paid his rent because he told her "she was cute, and he wanted to take care of her." She said they were "just friends" and had not had a sexual relationship.

An interviewer said he observed several clues that Ms. Anderson was giving false statements.
