  • Thursday, October 23, 2014

Four people were arrested after a gathering Wednesday night downtown.

At approximately 10:17 p.m., a small group gathered in recognition of National Day of Protest. The group, made up of approximately 12 people, migrated into the roadway and blocked traffic at the intersection of Main Street and Market Street.

Officers with the Chattanooga Police Department monitored the event and asked the individuals to clear the blocked roadway to ensure the safety of all citizens, including those protesting. After multiple requests, all but four people cleared the roadway. They were arrested. Charges include inciting to riot, obstructing highway or other passageway, and resisting arrest or obstruction of legal process.

Those arrested were Madison Dillard, Michael Heath, Janelle Jackson, and Ashlee Henderson.

The four were arrested without major incident although, after being handcuffed, Ms. Jackson sat on the ground and refused to stand. She was lifted by several officers and placed in a CPD car for transport.
