Here are upcoming news and events from Outdoor Chattanooga:


The RvrRox Grand Finale is this Saturday in Coolidge Park, with slackline demo's, climbing, live music, food trucks and more.
Volunteer Opportunities
Help Us Recycle at the Hooch!
Volunteers are needed to help the City of Chattanooga institute a recycling program for our large, downtown events.
 Please come help us collect recyclables in four hour shifts on Sat. and Sun., Nov. 1 and 2, and keep the waterfront green.

And speaking of the Hooch,volunteers are also needed to help with set up, break down, and all sorts of other fun jobs. Four hour shifts are available Thurs. - Sun., Oct. 30 - Nov. 2. Come be a part of the action. Rowing experience is NOT required.

Skilled Belayers for the ICL
The Interscholastic Climbing League needs volunteer belayers for several scheduled meets, including Sat., Nov. 1 and Nov. 15. Come help the region's newest high school aged climbers succeed! Email Terri Chapin or call (423) 643-6888 to volunteer.

Fireside at Greenway Oct. 23
Randy Steele and Friends
Outdoor Chattanooga will continue our popular Fireside at Greenway Farm series with Randy Steele and Friends (from the Folk School of Chattanooga) this Thurs., Oct. 23, 7 to 9 p.m. at Greenway Farm, 5051 Gann Store Rd., in Hixson. Bring kids, blankets and something to roast over the fire. Next Fireside: Erin Medley, and stargazing with the Barnard Astronomical Society.
 
Open Canoeing - Before the Fireside Program
Rent a canoe on Fireside evenings, from 6 to 7 p.m., for a family paddle on N. Chickamauga Creek. Cost is $20 per canoe. No reservations are necessary. Just show up and paddle. Outdoor Chattanooga will provide all equipment. Infants and small toddlers need to bring their own life jackets.

Free Workshop: Yoga for Runners Oct. 23
The Chattanooga Track Club will host a free, public workshop, Yoga for Runners, on Thurs., Oct. 23, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. in Coolidge Park. Instructor Hillary Libby will demonstrate yoga practice and share healthy eating choices for optimal performance in runners. All interested members of the public are welcome. 
 
Rapid Learning Resumes Nov. 4
Outdoor Chattanooga's Rapid Learning Whitewater Program will resume kayak skills practices on Tues., Nov. 4, with two sessions: 7 and 8 p.m., at the Southern Adventist University Hulsey Wellness Center's indoor pool. Join the practice to keep your whitewater kayak skills sharp during your winter break from paddling. A $2 admission fee applies to the center's pool. RvrRox Grand Finale Oct. 25
The public is invited to the RvrRox Grand Finale party in Coolidge Park, on Sat., Oct. 25, beginning at 4 p.m. Family activities, climbing, slacklining and acro yoga demonstrations, music and food trucks will all be part of the free activities.

IMAX Reel Rock Tour Oct. 23
Valley Uprising: Yosemite's Rock Climbing Revolution 
Reel Rock 9 Valley Uprising is coming to rock downtown Chattanooga Thurs., Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the IMAX theater, 1 Broad St. Presented by Triple Crown Bouldering, the film covers the interesting emergence of climbing from the Yosemite Valley. Tickets are $16 online and at the door if space permits.

Ragnar Relay Oct. 24-25
Coolidge Park will be buzzing with activity from the pre-dawn hours through the day on Fri., Oct. 24, when the Tennessee Ragnar Relay starts. Van loads of runners will do an overnight relay to Nashville to raise money for Soles for Souls.
Highlining at the TN Aquarium Oct. 24-25
Local world-class slackliner Edward Yates will offer a free, pubic highlining exhibition between the pyramids of the TN Aquarium, 1 Broad St., on Fri., Oct. 24, at 5:30 p.m. and Sat., at 11:00 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. Highlining is a millennial version of tightrope walking, done on a 1" slackline with a safety tether.
Signal Mountain Pie Run Oct. 25 The Chattanooga Track Club will host the Signal Mountain Pie Run 10K Sat., Oct. 25, starting 8 a.m. at the Signal Mountain Athletic Club, 315 Ault Rd.
 
Salomon CityTrail Race Oct. 25
Rock/Creek will host the Salomon CITYTRAIL race, a road/trail race hybrid, Sat., Oct. 25, starting 8 a.m. at Renaissance Park.

Triple Crown Bouldering Competition: Stone Fort Oct. 25
The Stonefort Triple Crown Bouldering Competition will be Sat., Oct. 25, at 8:30 a.m. at Montlake Golf Course..

Chattajack 31 Oct. 25
One hundred and fifty standup paddleboarders and racing kayakers from all over the country will paddle 31 miles of the TN River on Sat., Oct. 25 for the 3rd annualChattajack31 race. To watch the epic start, be on the downtown riverfront by 8 a.m.
Speed Climbing Competition at High Point Oct. 26 
Rock/Creek and RvrRox will co-host a speed climbing competition on the outdoor decks at High Point Climbing and Fitness on Sun., Oct. 26, beginning at 5:15 p.m. Competitors can register beginning at 4 p.m. Spectators should grab their streetside seats early.

Lookout Mtn.'s Glen Falls Trail Closed
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is advising that the Glen Falls Trail, located on Lookout Mtn., is closed and will remain closed until further notice. The trail is adjacent to the recent mud slide that closed Ochs Highway on Oct. 14. Visitors are asked not to park in the pull off on Ochs Hwy. at the trail head until the mudslide hazard area can be repaired.
