The Public is invited to the All Saints' Day Service at St. Paul's Church on Nov. 2.
On Sunday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m., St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in downtown Chattanooga will offer a Music Service with Requiem for All Saints’ Sunday.
"For many people, All Saints' Day is simply a day that comes at the heels of Halloween and all the secular activities associated with it – costumes, trick-or-treating, and candy. For churches, All Saints' Day honors God and all of His saints – known and unknown. The day is also a special time to honor friends, family, and community members who have passed away in the past year. A Requiem is often presented for All Saints' Sunday, since it is traditionally offered for the repose of souls," church officials said. "A Service for All Saints' Sunday is an enriching opportunity for reflection and remembrance."
Featuring the Chattanooga premiere of British composer Bob Chilcott's Requiem, the service will be performed by St. Paul's senior choir and special guest and an instrumental ensemble including flute, clarinet and organ.
"Bob Chilcott, described by The Observer as 'a contemporary hero of British choral music,' has become one of the most widely performed composers of choral music in the world. He has a large catalog of works published by Oxford University Press that reflects his wide taste in music styles and his commitment to writing music that is both sing-able and communicative," officials said.
This free music event is open to all – donations benefit St. Paul’s outreach projects. Reception follows.
