During a Cleveland City Council meeting, a public hearing was held concerning rezoning property on Old Tasso Road and Blythe Ferry Road from light industrial to R2, low density single and multi-family.
Another public hearing was held regarding abandoning a portion of excess right-of-way on Linden Avenue SE between East Inman Street and 2nd Street SE.
Mayor Tom Rowland was not present so newly-appointed Vice Mayor George Poe presided over the meeting.
The consent agenda was approved.
This included several recommendations for street light installation, one at the Whirlpool West Plant entrance on Benton Pike and another on 3455 Ridgeway Place NW.
Other motions in the consent agenda included one declaring items from the Jetport as surplus property. These are to be sold on GovDeals.com. Another motion was to purchase an asphalt roller for the Public Works Department.
After the public hearings at the 1 p.m. meeting, the rezoning and the abandonment were both approved during the voting session.
A discussion was held regarding extending city sewer service to a home that is technically not in the city. However, a city sewer line still runs on the property.
Councilman Bill Estes made a motion to let the property to connect as long as they paid the installation fees, but the motion did not pass.
Ordinances involving mobile food units and revising the drug policy for city personnel were postponed.
