Darrell Moore, President and CEO of Parkridge Health System, announced that Martina Harris, EdD, MSN, RN has joined the system’s Board of Governors.
Ms. Harris is the director of the Nursing program and an Associate professor at Chattanooga State Community College, where she is a member of the President’s Council and the College Scholarship Committee.
She has over 20 years of clinical experience in healthcare and 17 years of experience in health care education.
Known for her leadership in the community, Ms. Harris is involved with a number of initiatives that support public health and promote healthcare careers to students in the Chattanooga area. She is a board member of the Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy and a member of the Tennessee Organization of Nurse Executives, the Association of Tennessee Deans and Directors, Chattanooga Area Nurses in Advanced Practice, and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.
Ms. Harris also co-chairs the Blue Cross Blue Shield Disparity Advisory Council and serves on the Chattanooga Area Clinical for Education (ACE) Consortium. She serves on the Board of Directors for the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), an organization that focuses on standards of best practices related to the use of simulation in preparing health care workers.
Ms. Harris earned a Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee State University in Nashville, a Master of Science in Nursing in Health Systems Management from Vanderbilt University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Middle Tennessee State University.
