Most of the time, a trip through a drive thru isn’t associated with healthy choices. But that will change on Friday, at Memorial Convenient Care’s "Spook the Flu”.
Memorial Convenient Care will offer a drive-thru flu shot station. No appointments, No waiting rooms, and no need to get out of the car. The cost per vaccine is $25 or less depending on insurance.
Officials said, "With flu season just around the corner, getting the seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and your family from the contagious respiratory illness. For busy families, getting everyone to the clinic can be challenging. Because of that, the Memorial Convenient Care ‘Spook the Flu’ drive thru provides a convenient and easy option that will expectantly increase vaccination rates and keep the Cleveland community healthy this flu season."
The process for people needing the vaccine is as easy as driving to the clinic, rolling down their windows and rolling up their sleeves. Passengers who are at least four years old can also receive the vaccine. More information can be found at memorialconvenientcare.org.
According to the CDC, flu vaccines are needed every season for two reasons. First, the body’s immune response from vaccination declines over time, so an annual vaccine is needed for optimal protection. Second, because flu viruses are constantly changing, the formulation of the flu vaccine is reviewed each year and sometimes updated to keep up with changing flu viruses. For the best protection, everyone six months and older should get vaccinated annually.
The event will be at the Mouse Creek - Publix Center, 645 Paul Huff Parkway NW, Ste. 105, Cleveland, TN 37312, 423 790-7750 on Friday, from 12-2 p.m.
