BB&T Insurance has named John W. Sorrow as agency executive and senior vice president for BB&T Huffaker Insurance, Chattanooga’s oldest and largest insurance agency.
Mr. Sorrow, who has more than 24 years of leadership experience in the insurance industry, succeeds Roger Smith and Bill Wilder in this new role. Mr. Smith is retiring at the end of this year after 33 years of service. Mr. Wilder will remain with BB&T Huffaker Insurance as an agent, the role in which is where he began his career in 1975.
Mr. Sorrow comes to BB&T Huffaker Insurance from a large health care management company where he served as corporate vice president for the holding company. Raised in Chattanooga, Mr. Sorrow earned a bachelor of business administration degree in risk management insurance from the University of Georgia and an MBA from UTC.
