My Trust Is In Temple, Pierce And Causer - And Response

  • Thursday, October 30, 2014

My daughter used to jokingly say, “Don't just do something!... Stand there!” Lately I feel I'm just standing there, reading relentless newsprint against two decent Red Bank commissioners up for re-election Nov. 4.

We are tired of psycho-babble from campaign cheerleaders who orchestrated a “forum” (pep rally for their team – Roberts and Co.). Shame shame, Causer, Pierce and Temple didn't attend the pep rally, that was prepared for them in the presence of their “enemies” - like McCallie football players being invited to a pep rally at Baylor. What kind of arena would that be?

Regarding “ordinance” talk, there's always more in a package than meets the eye. Our leaders must study, in depth, the ramifications of the much touted ordinance issue. More often than not, regulations don't get reversed once they've been enacted. If we lose our property rights, along with our personal rights, good luck ever getting them back.

Vote for candidates who study, think, and pray over issues affecting the people. Don't fall for negative campaigning and truth twisting. I give my absolute trust and support to Dalton Temple, Floy Pierce, and Rick Causer.

It has been said in a recent article that Pierce, Causer, and Temple did not show up for a forum in Red Bank to discuss their platform because it was "orchestrated by their enemies."  Last I checked there were two different groups, unrelated to one another, who orchestrated forums for citizens to meet and hear the candidate's platforms. Roberts, Pope and LeCompte came to both forums and Mr. Temple came to only the second. So, is the author of the other article saying that Pierce, Causer, and Temple have "enemies" in both groups? And why do they have so many "enemies?"  "Enemies" is such a strong word; was it used because that is exactly how Pierce and Causer see others who disagree with them, as an enemy? Really?

I find it hard to believe that two candidates expect citizens to vote for them if they aren't willing to discuss the issues publicly.  Let us also remember that Pierce and Causer also refused to answer questions that was asked of them from a citizen in a public, commission meeting. Now, if they don't answer questions in forums because they just "don't do things like that" or because they feel it was "orchestrated by enemies" and because a regular, voting, concerned citizen asks during a commission meeting (which was designed for this purpose after all), then when and how are we ever supposed to hear their platform? Why do they think the zoning ordinances will hurt citizens and Red Bank? Why did they vote no to tablets in the police cars? Who knows?

There are so many questions, so many unanswered questions. I guess we will never know, and I guess we are just supposed to be satisfied with that. I don't know about others, but I'm not okay with not knowing.

Our elected officials are supposed to represent us, as an extension of our voice, I want to know what they think, why they vote the way they do, and what I can expect of them, and how they use my tax dollars. Unfortunately, some candidates are making this harder than it has to be, not giving us, the voters, the citizens an opportunity to even get to know them. All I can ask now is, do you know who you are voting for? I do.  I will be voting for Roberts, Pope, and LeCompte - the candidates who stand for transparency, standing behind what they believe, and who are willing to meet me to get to know me too. Know who you are voting for. Vote Roberts, Pope, LeCompte.
