Reinhardt University   19    18    20  - 0

The Dalton State volleyball team defeated visiting Reinhardt in straight sets Thursday night on Coach O Court at B. J. Bandy Gym.

“From the bench to the girls on the court, we played as a unit,” DS Coach Bruna Langner said.

“We had one common goal and that was to win the game. We did great.”

“We didn’t have as many serving errors as we did in the past,” added Langner. “We only had six service areas and our goal was five. We’re getting better.”

Kianna Delaney scored 13 DS points with a match high nine kills. Alyne Bianchi scored ten points with seven kills. She also had five digs. Savannah Nelson scored 9.4 points with five points. Anna Metzler scored eight points. She had seven kills and six digs. Michala Askew had a match high 25 assists.

Dalton (12-10 overall, 7-7 SSAC) jumped out to a 21-13 lead in the first set. Reinhardt pulled to within three at 22-19.  The Lady Roadrunners scored the final three points for the 25-19 first set victory.

Dalton State won the second set going away, 25-18.

Reinhardt (12-10 overall, 9-5 AAC) took a 7-4 third set lead, but DS rallied to lead 15-11. The closest the Lady Eagles could from there was three points, the final time at 23-20.

Friday night is senior night for Dalton State volleyball as the Lady Roadrunners host Martin Methodist (8-12 overall, 6-8 SSAC) at 7:00 p.m. Dalton State defeated the Lady Redhawks in five sets back on October 3rd.

Alyne Bianchi is the team’s only senior. She will be honored prior to the game. The senior leader has played in all 73 Lady Roadrunner games with 178 kills this season.

“She’s getting better every match and I believe she will be even better when we get to the conference,” said Langner.

Dalton State will play the season’s final home match Saturday. They will entertain Bethel University (17-10 overall, 9-5 SSAC). Although The Lady Roadrunners defeated Bethel 3-1 on October 4th, the Lady Wildcats are currently in third place in the conference behind College of Coastal Georgia and Mobile.
