James A. Bridgeman, 89, of Pikeville, TN, died Tuesday October 28, 2014.
He was born May 25, 1925 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Alex and Cleo (Roberson) Bridgeman. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during WWII. James was a member of the Wheeler Addition Church of God. He also served as President of the Lincoln School Alumni Association. He worked as a Dorm Supervisor at Taft youth center for several years.
He was preceded in death by his aforementioned parents; and a daughter; Sgt. Elizabeth Darlene Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary (Brock) Bridgeman; children, Rev. J.R. Bridgeman, Jasper E. Bridgeman, Samuel Bridgeman, Martha C. Goines and Lyndon H. Bridgeman;14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.
A Celebration of James’ Life will be held in the sanctuary of Pikeville Church of God located on Hwy 127 S. on Saturday November 1 at 12 p.m. CST with Rev. J.R. Bridgeman officiating. Burial will be in the Pikeville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends also on Saturday, November 1 at 10 a.m. CST.
