Miller & Martin PLLC announced that Nashville attorney David Lewis will head the health care practice group for the southeast firm, according to Jim Haley, chairman.

Mr. Lewis joined Miller & Martin’s Nashville office in May after serving as the vice president and associate legal counsel at LifePoint Hospitals in Brentwood.  He will be responsible for the ongoing growth and service of this practice group across all three offices, Chattanooga, Atlanta and Nashville. Currently, 10 attorneys are engaged in the firm’s health care work.

In announcing the news, Mr. Haley said, “Since joining us this spring, David has demonstrated his strengths in developing our firm’s health care presence.  We are pleased that he will be leading all of our offices in broadening our services to health care clients as we continue our growth in this vibrant and important area.”

Mr. Lewis has been engaged in health care legal work for more than 25 years.  Prior to LifePoint, he was a partner with Husch Blackwell in Chattanooga. Earlier, he was with Roper St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston, SC, as general counsel and vice president; and Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga as chief legal officer.

Mr. Lewis is the past chair of the Tennessee Bar Association health law section and currently serves as vice chair of the Physician Organizations Practice Group of the American Health Lawyers Association.
