The Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team is in fifth after 36 holes Saturday at the Diane Thomason Invitational. The Mocs opened with a 325 but closed with an afternoon 306 to get within five shots of the lead.
Agathe Sauzon led the way for the Mocs with rounds of 77 and 75. Her 8 over total of 152 is tied for fourth overall. Emily McLennan is six behind her teammate, tied for 12th at 158.
Isabella Loza and Sarah Dolmovich are tied for 32nd at 162. Dolmovich had the low round of the day for the Mocs with a 2-over 74 on her second card. Cris Perez shot 168 and is tied for 58th. Megan Woods is tied with McLennan in 12th at 158 playing as an individual. She turned in rounds 83 and 75.
Illinois is first at 626. South Dakota State is a shot back at 627, while host Iowa is in third at 628. The Illini’s Dana Gattone leads at 6-over par 150, Lena Gautier (Northern Illinois) and Marissa Uradomo (Indiana State) are in second at +7 with Sauzon tied another shot back at 8 over.
The final round is a shotgun start at 10 a.m., Eastern time. The Mocs are paired with Wichita State and Northern Illinois.
