The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis team is represented in the finals of four draws on Sunday at the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic. Chattanooga had a solid day in singles and doubles competition at the Champions Club.
Junior Kayla Jones leads the way, advancing to the finals in the top singles and doubles draws. She scored a (6-3, 6-1) win over Eastern Kentucky’s Kristina Labeja in today’s semifinals. Jones looks to defend her title from a year ago with a 10:00 a.m.
(E.D.T.) match against EKU’s Amandine Faouzi on Sunday.
Jones teamed with junior Kelsey Coots to advance to the Blue Draw doubles finals. They beat Kennesaw State’s Stein and Hueckinghaus 8-6 and will face Naito and Tari from UT Martin at 8:30 a.m. in the finals.
Coots and senior Kaylene Chadwell will share the Choo Choo Singles Draw title. They both advanced to the finals with wins today, but will not play each other on Sunday.
Junior Alison Storie is also in a main draw final. She defeated UAB’s Catherin Ragon in the semis of the Tennessee River Draw (6-3, 6-2).
