Chattanooga Police Department’s National Night Out Is Tuesday

  • Monday, October 6, 2014

The Chattanooga Police Department will be hosting Chattanooga’s 2014 National Night Out. Officers will be joining local neighborhood associations across Chattanooga Tuesday night to promote community and police cooperation in building safer streets city wide.

The introduction of National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, in 1984 began an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie.

“Community policing is important to our city’s success,” said Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher. “This event strengthens our community commitment and sends a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and ready to end the violence.”

There will be a kick-off event at Washington Hills Youth and Family Development Center, 4628 Oakwood Dr., at 5 p.m.

The Chattanooga Police Department is encouraging Chattanoogans to come out to and join in tomorrow’s events:
