White, Frederick Edmund (Tunnel Hill)

Frederick Edmund White, 92, of Tunnel Hill, GA, died on Sunday, October 5, 2014. 

He was the son of the late Dallas L. and Virginia B. White of Dalton; and was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Willie Love McMinn White; and sister, Virginia Lee Albertson.

Fred graduated from Dalton High School, West Georgia College, Furman University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and attended Johns Hopkins University.

He served in World War II in the United States Army Air Corps. He served as a Baptist minister for over fifty years and pastored churches in South Carolina, Texas and Georgia, including Grove Level Baptist Church in Dalton. He served as interim pastor in several other churches. He also served in the department of evangelism for the Georgia Baptist Convention, the Baptist Convention of Maryland and the North American Mission Board.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Lajuana & Eddy Rich of Atlanta and Angela & Larry Marlin of Dalton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim & Mary White of Fairfield, OH and Dan and Lydia White of Flowery Branch, GA; sisters, Nancy England of Atlanta, Olive Buchanan King of Atlanta, Ella Cordle of Dalton and Nedra White of Dalton; grandchildren, Jonathan Rich and Christopher Rich of Atlanta, Melody Schurgast, Amy Davis and Beth Jacob, all of Ohio, Bethany Gentry, Jared Marlin, Joshua Marlin, all of Dalton, Jordan White, Rachel White and John David White, all of Flowery Branch; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral service to honor Rev. Fred White’s life will be held Thursday, October 9, at 11 a.m. at the Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church with Rev. Dewey Boyd and Rev. Jimmy Hutto officiating. The body will lie in state for 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the Westside Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home Wednesday, October 8 from 5-9 p.m.
