Central High School Principal Finley King announced, “Central High School and the Central High Alumni/Supporters Association proudly announce the creation of its 11th endorsed scholarship at the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga in memory of 1941 graduate Luther Masingill who died recently at the age of 92."
Luther was a lifetime supporter of Central High School and supported the school at both Dodds Avenue and Highway 58 in Harrison.”
A ceremony will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m. in the gymnasium at Central High School to announce the establishment of the scholarship.
The scholarship will be awarded by a vote of the board of directors of the Central High Alumni/Supporters Association after an application and interview process.
The criteria for the scholarship will be a “B” overall academic average, interest in pursuing a career in communications, good character and a financial need.
Donations in any amount should be mailed directly to and in the name of “Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga,” 1270 Market Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37402 and designated as Central High Scholarship Fund-Luther Masingill. Said donations are tax free under the CFGC’s charter.
All friends and colleagues of Luther are invited to attend.
