Keo-Kio, McCallie School’s preeminent senior leadership organization, welcomed 13 additional members from the Class of 2015 at an induction ceremony in Chapel on Friday. The new inductees join the 13 seniors inducted last spring. Students are selected for membership based on their leadership, service and loyalty to the school and its abiding principles.
In keeping with tradition, the previous year's Keo-Kio Distinguished Teacher Award recipient began the ceremony with a reflection on leadership. Last year's recipient, classics teacher Jason Jones, who has taught on the Ridge since 2001, spoke briefly about quiet leadership and focusing on the daily routines and details that often get overlooked or taken for granted.
One of the school’s oldest organizations, Keo-Kio is instrumental in planning annual events such as the winter semiformal dance, Duck Day, community service projects and supporting new campus activities. The group also raises funds and distributes them to events and efforts made by other organizations at the school.
